Respectfully dedicated to Ken Moxham, who by example gave me a deep appreciation for local history and the type of stories that are unique to each family, and without whom this website would not be possible and thanks to whom much of the content was passed on to me.

The Moxham family have lived in County Longford for over 300 years and in the mid-nineteenth century were pretty numerous. Today there aren’t many left in Ireland, so this website is an attempt to preserve the family history that has survived, for the use of those around the world who may be interested. As the pages fill up it will inevitably stretch to a number of related families, as well as covering some local background history, which may be of interest to others.

  1. My name is Dr Kenneth E Moxham and I hail from Adelaide in Australia. My g/grandfather came here in 1860’s saying he was “from Bristol” but like so many that meant the ship departed from Bristol. I can track down an exciting Naval Service in the Crimean War before he left the UK. I would love to join up more of the dots. Can anyone help?
